At Longview Farms we specialize in growing and wholesaling Daffodils and Daffodil bulbs. We are the largest provider of these beautiful yellow symbols of Spring on Vancouver Island and have been grown on this land for over 60 years!
Daffodils are easy and reliable spring-flowering bulbs. They multiply quickly and return to bloom again each spring, year after year. They are not fussy about soil, will grow in sun or part shade and are not bothered by deer, rabbits and other pesky critters.
When to Plant Daffodil Bulbs?
Plant daffodil bulbs in the fall—at least 2 to 4 weeks before the ground freezes. We usually plant ours in late September.
Where to Plant?
Daffodils are suitable for planting between shrubs, in a border, or even in pots. Good drainage is key. They are susceptible to rot when kept too wet, so make sure that you plant them in a well-draining spot. Hillsides and raised beds work well. Otherwise, improve clay soil by amending (12 inches deep) with organic material such as well-rotted compost.
